Submission of the entries for the East Africa Maritime Awards (EAMA) has been ongoing to allow more participants. Due to the new COVID-19 guidelines that were put in place by the government, the extension was made with the deadline left open as the organisers monitor the situation.

Also, with the new guidelines, the Gala Dinner that was scheduled for the 21st of May was affected. The organisers have announced that they will communicate the new changes including the new date as soon as it is possible.

The race to identify the most innovative and efficient logistic service providers kicked off in Mombasa in December last year. EAMA is now in its 2nd edition. It is a strategic initiative to promote excellent services provision and overall industry development by recognizing exception service providers.

EAMA is supported by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in collaboration with the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA), Kenya Revenue Authority, KenTrade, Shippers Council of East Africa (SCEA) and East Africa Business Council (EABC).

The award is targeting industry players from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, DRC, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania.

The award seeks to recognize organisations who have played a defining role in moving the industry forward by demonstrating achievement across a wide variety of domains including efficiency sustainability, innovation, excellence and operational compliance.

This year’s award has 9 clusters based on maritime functionality and service offering with a total of 27 distinct categories. This includes cargo importers, cargo logistics service providers, clearing and warehousing agencies, shipping lines, agents and cargo consolidators, trade facilitation agencies, support service providers, environment and safety awards and SME.

This year, the award will also recognize individuals such as maritime journalists, young achievers, outstanding women awards and lifetime achievement awards.

Submission of the entries are open to individuals and corporate entities in their respective countries. The judging process will start immediately after submission deadlines.

Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) has been contracted as the project management consultant to execute this year award.
