Milan, Italy – 8 October 2026

The Ethiopian Freight Forwarders and Shipping Agents Association (EFFSAA) is pleased to announce that Ethiopia has officially received the FIATA Talking Stick from Italy, symbolizing the formal handover of hosting responsibility for the 101st FIATA World Congress, to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2027.

The symbolic handover took place during the 2026 FIATA World Congress in Milan, Italy, the centenary edition of FIATA. EFFSAA was represented at the handover ceremony by its president, Dr. Dawit Wubishet, who formally received the FIATA Talking Stick on behalf of Ethiopia and EFFSAA. The handover marks an important milestone in Ethiopia’s preparations to welcome the global freight forwarding and logistics community to Addis Ababa.

Dr. Dawit Wubishet’s leadership, commitment, and active contribution have played an important role in advancing EFFSAA’s efforts to bring this prestigious global event to Ethiopia. His engagement and support have contributed significantly to strengthening EFFSAA’s international cooperation and preparations for hosting the 101st FIATA World Congress.

The 101st FIATA World Congress will bring together freight forwarders, logistics professionals, industry leaders, government representatives, international organizations, and other stakeholders from around the world. The Congress will provide Ethiopia with an important platform to showcase its growing logistics sector, strategic position as a gateway to Africa, and opportunities for regional and global trade and connectivity.

EFFSAA is honoured to host this prestigious international event and is committed to working closely with FIATA, the Ministry of Logistics, Ethiopian Maritime and Logistics (EMMa), Ethiopian Airlines, Ethio-Djibouti Railways, government institutions, private-sector partners and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the Congress.

The handover marks the beginning of a new phase of intensified preparations as Ethiopia assumes its responsibility as the next host of FIATA’s flagship global event.
