The race to identify the most innovative and efficient logistic service providers has taken off in Mombasa after the organizers launched the East Africa Maritime Awards (EAMA) for 2020 yesterday.
EAMA is now in its 2nd edition. It is a strategic initiative to promote excellent services provision and overall industry development by recognizing exception service providers.
EAMA is supported by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in collaboration with the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA), Kenya Revenue Authority, KenTrade, Shippers Council of East Africa (SCEA) and East Africa Business Council (EABC).
The award will target industry players from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, DRC, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania.
The award seeks to recognize organisations who have played a defining role in moving the industry forward by demonstrating achievement across a wide variety of domains including efficiency sustainability, innovation excellence and operational compliance.
This year’s award has 9 clusters based on maritime functionality and service offering with a total of 27 distinct categories. This includes cargo importers, cargo logistics service providers, clearing and warehousing agencies, shipping lines, agents and cargo consolidators, trade facilitation agencies, support service providers, environment and safety awards and SME.
This year, the award will also recognize individuals such as maritime journalist, young achievers, outstanding women awards and lifetime achievement awards.
Submission of the entries will be open to individuals and corporate entities in their respective countries. The judging process will start immediately after the lapse of the submission deadlines, which is slated for January 29 2021. A panel of 7 or 9 judges will be drawn from the region.
A structured survey will be conducted by Research 2020 and the judging panel audited by PKF Kenya. Final results will be announced and winners feted at Awards Gala night.
Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) has been contracted as the project management consultant to execute this year award.
